Marcell Dareus Suspended

Marcel-Dareus The NCAA has suspended defensive end Marcell Dareus for two games. He was found to have received improper benefits from a trip he took to Miami earlier this season. The NCAA has been investigating him and other college football players that were reported to have been at the party. Dareus must donate $1,787.17 to a charity of his choice to repay the benefits he received during the trip. The University of Alabama received word of the NCAA’s decision Thursday night and informed Dareus of the findings.

The University through it compliance director says that Marcell did not knowingly violate NCAA rules and that the school has not ruled out an appeal. As it stands now, he will sit out this Saturday against San Jose State and next weekend when the Tide host Penn State.
