Three Tide Players Make 2010 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List

Lombardi Award trophy small The 2010 Rotary Lombardi Award watch list has been released and three University of Alabama players have made the list. They are offensive tackle James Carpenter, defensive end Marcell Dareus, and linebacker Dont’a Hightower.

“Eligibility for the trophy is limited to down lineman, end-to-end, either on offense or defense, who set up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball, or linebackers who set up no further than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage.

The candidates that earned a place on the official watch list by earning All-American honors, by being named to their respective all- conference first teams as selected by the conference’s head coaches or by nomination sent to and reviewed by the nominations committee.”

The SEC had 15 players named to the watch list including the three from Alabama. Last season, Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh won the award and was drafted by the Detroit Lions shortly there after.
