iz6scn University of Alabama defensive back Mark Barron has been named to the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List. The award is given annually since 1986 to the top defensive back and college football as voted on by the Jim Thorpe Association.

The watch list is created each preseason and the 2010 list includes the top 35 defensive backs in the nation. This years list does include 6 players from the SEC including Barron. The award was presented last season to safety Eric Berry, from the University of Tennessee.
